Which strap material offers the highest durability?

If maximum durability is your priority, stainless steel is the most resistant option and handles water, sweat, and everyday impact particularly well. Textile is flexible and resistant to tearing, mesh combines strength with breathability, while leather develops its own character and can remain resilient when properly cared for.

Which strap material is best for sensitive skin?

Every Detomaso strap is designed for comfortable everyday wear. Stainless steel and mesh are made from stainless steel 316L and are allergy-neutral and nickel-free. Leather and textile offer a softer feel and are paired with nickel-free buckles.

Can I wear my leather strap while running or working out?

We recommend using leather mainly for everyday wear rather than intense workouts. Leather is a natural, porous material and can be affected by heavy sweat, moisture, and repeated contact with water. For training, a metal or textile strap is a more practical choice.

The watch head also has its own care requirements: quartz watches are generally resistant to movement such as jogging or running, while we recommend avoiding jogging with automatic watches because repeated shocks and vibrations can affect their internal components.

For high-impact activities where the case or glass could be heavily scratched or shattered, remove the watch.

Can I swim with a leather strap in the pool or ocean?

No. Leather straps should not be submerged or used for swimming. Pool chlorine and ocean salt can damage the leather, affect its structure, and remove natural oils from the material.

Can I wear my leather strap in the sauna?

No, we recommend taking your watch off before entering a sauna. The combination of high heat and humidity can cause Leather to absorb moisture and can accelerate deterioration of the material. Extreme conditions can also affect the watch head.

How should I clean and care for my leather strap?

For everyday cleaning, gently wipe the leather with a soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth to remove dust and surface oils. Do not soak or submerge the strap. Excess moisture can cause leather to warp, stiffen, or crack over time.

What if my leather strap changes color over time?

A change in appearance is a natural part of leather. With use, naturally tanned leather can darken as it absorbs oils from your skin and develops a distinctive patina. To help preserve the material and finish, keep the strap away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive moisture.

Is it easy to adjust the fit of a leather strap?

Yes. Leather straps use a traditional buckle-and-hole system, so you can easily choose the hole that gives you the most comfortable fit. You can adjust it directly on your wrist whenever needed.

Are all Detomaso straps compatible with every watch?

Not all straps fit. Strap compatibility depends on the correct width and, in some cases, the specific connection mechanism of the watch. Most straps are selected according to the required width, such as 20 mm or 22 mm. One important exception is the D14 system: D14 uses a different mechanism and is designed specifically for the Voltre Chronograph. To make this clear, compatible straps are marked with “D14” in the strap name. D14 straps should only be used with the Voltre Chronograph.

For other watches, you can also create your own combination by choosing a strap with the correct width, but keep in mind that the hardware, colors, and finishes may vary between models.
