Which strap material offers the highest durability?

For maximum overall durability, stainless steel is the strongest option. Mesh is also robust while offering more flexibility and breathability. Textile is flexible and resistant to tearing, while leather can provide good natural resilience when it is properly maintained.

Which strap material is most comfortable for sensitive skin?

All Detomaso straps are designed with comfort in mind. Stainless steel and mesh straps use stainless steel 316L and are allergy-neutral and nickel-free. Leather and textile straps offer a softer, lightweight feel and are fitted with nickel-free buckles.

Is a mesh strap suitable for running or workouts?

Mesh is flexible, breathable, and resistant to sweat, making it a practical option for active everyday wear. However, the metal construction can feel heavier than Textile during longer workouts.

The watch head also has its own requirements: quartz watches are generally resistant to movement such as jogging or running, while we recommend avoiding jogging with automatic watches because repeated shocks and vibrations can affect their internal components.

For high-impact sports or activities that could heavily scratch or shatter the case or glass, remove the watch.

Can I use a mesh strap for swimming in the pool or ocean?

The stainless steel mesh strap itself is water-resistant, but we recommend avoiding swimming with watches rated at 5 ATM or 10 ATM. Chlorine and saltwater can also affect the watch's seals over time. After exposure to saltwater or pool water, rinse the watch and strap thoroughly with fresh water.

Can I wear a mesh strap in the sauna?

Mesh itself handles heat and humidity better than some natural materials, but we still recommend removing the watch before entering a sauna. Extreme heat, humidity, and temperature changes can affect the watch head and its seals.

What is the best way to clean a mesh strap?

For regular cleaning, rinse the mesh strap with fresh water after heavy exposure to sweat, chlorine, or saltwater. If a deeper clean is needed, use warm water and a small amount of mild soap, gently brushing the mesh with a soft toothbrush. Rinse well and dry completely with a soft microfiber cloth.

What should I do if my mesh strap becomes discoloured?

Stainless steel mesh does not normally lose its color permanently, but sweat, skin oils, lotions, and dirt can make the surface look dull over time. A gentle wash with warm water and mild soap can remove these residues. Dry the strap thoroughly afterward with a soft cloth.

Is it easy to adjust the length of a mesh strap?

Yes. Depending on the mesh strap design, the clasp can be adjusted to fine-tune the fit around your wrist. This makes it easy to find a comfortable position without changing the watch itself.

Are all Detomaso straps compatible with every watch?

Not all straps fit. Strap compatibility depends on the correct width and, in some cases, the specific connection mechanism of the watch. Most straps are selected according to the required width, such as 20 mm or 22 mm. One important exception is the D14 system: D14 uses a different mechanism and is designed specifically for the Voltre Chronograph. To make this clear, compatible straps are marked with “D14” in the strap name. D14 straps should only be used with the Voltre Chronograph.

For other watches, you can also create your own combination by choosing a strap with the correct width, but keep in mind that the hardware, colors, and finishes may vary between models.
